Riz Ahmed Gives Top Performance as a Musician Whose World Goes Silent: "Sound of Metal" stars Riz Ahmed ("Nightcrawler") as Ruben, a heavy-metal drummer and recovering addict whose world goes silent due to severe and sudden hearing loss.
The film follows Ruben's journey, a man whose life was given to music, now struggling to deal with and accept this new world gone quiet, filled with muffled and limited sounds. Ahmed's powerful and dignified performance is one of the year's best.
