Review of Sound of Metal (2020) by Hesnotdrunk — 27 Sep 2021
Truly a masterwork. Unlike a majority of modern "critical darlings", Sound of Metal is one of those rare feats that is an incredible, visceral piece of emotionally driven filmmaking, without any of the pretentiousness that comes with the current wave of misguided auteur driven "art-house" films that divide critics and audiences.
Well paced, brilliantly acted, brilliantly directed, artfully written, and beautifully shot, the film is a knockout of gut-wrenching drama with a transcendent message on hope and meaning in our existential plights.
