Review of Soul Power (2009) by Marcel M — 27 Mar 2009
The opening scene is as powerfully sweet as it is shocking...and that one scene alone is enough to put us into context.
We are not in Kansas anymore...this is Africa.
From that moment on this great documentary takes us backstage to the 3 day concert in Kinshasa and makes us witnesses of a powerful and soulful reunion.
The movie proves that language is not a barrier and validates the -sometimes referred to as- cliche that music brings us together.
James Brown is superb and it is moving to watch BB King do his thing on stage and then say "all in all I think it was ok...".
IT WAS MAGICAL!
