Review of Soul Kitchen (2009) by Eric R — 30 May 2011
A likable restaurant owner, who is disorganized and hopeless struggles to save his floundering restaurant from going under. The film features a fun cast of characters, from our lovable loser main protagonist, to the perfectionist chef that his so much disdain for his customers, etc.
Coming from Fatih Akin, its really interesting to see him tackle a relatively light hearted comedic film. Like most great comedies, the film does balance some dramatic elements in the comedy and both work well together.
Oh, and it even has a small role for Udo Kier! which is always awesome. Its' really just a fun whimsical story.
