"Sophie's Choice" is an astonishing, heartbreaking, perfectly acted drama. Meryl Streep won her only Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in this movie, and what a fine performance it is! Considering Meryl Streep's excellent track record as far as the depth and range of the characters she has played throughout her career, this is her most convincing role - and that's saying a lot.
Every time she's on the screen, you can't take your eyes off of her. If you are a Meryl Streep fan or a fan of emotively penetrating dramas, "Sophie's Choice" is a must see.
