Review of Songs from the Second Floor (2000) by Casey B — 03 May 2004

Odd.
Dark humor.
There is rarely a closeup. Most scenes the camera stays still like a voyeur watching the lives of these characters deteriorate.
Everyone is the film is having the worst of luck and the city they live in is going down the drain.
Is it just touch economical times or something worse?
It appears that everyone is trying to get out of town or just get somewhere but are stuck in a heavy traffic jam and are not getting anywhere.
Soon.
.. all that will be left of this dying city will be the souls of the dead.
This was quite a "different" movie and I still don't fully understand it.
Recommendation: Well.......
.... hmmm if you don't like strange or surreal films, don't watch. This is an abstract view of society and some of the scenes are not meant to be "realistic."
Grade: B+
.
