Review of Songs from the Second Floor (2000) by Jonathan M — 06 Jul 2009
It has a distinct vision (there are a number of notable set-piece shots) in its slow, surreal (read "funny" as mildly amusing discontinuities and incongruities), but often pretty dull plod through its heavy-handed condemnation of contemporary bourgeois life (in Sweden).
Moreover, these frustrated and depressed cartoons are rarely as tragic as the real people they supposedly represent.
