Review of Song of the South (1946) by Melissa B — 20 Oct 2007
If you haven't seen this, it's probably because it is the only Disney film banned from North America. This film is not in print in the U.S. I had to find it in PAl format at Scarecrow Video. Anyways, my grandma saw this film when she was young and fell in love with it.
Disney banned the film because of racial issues, mainly the "tar baby" in the film. Oh, and it's also set on a plantation. It's too bad that more people can't see this great film, I loved the music and the kid actors did a great job.
If you ever get a chance, see it. Then you will finally know what Disney Land's Splash Mountain is based on.
