Review of Somers Town (2008) by Robin S — 09 Apr 2009
The king of the British suburbs is back! This time for a heart-warming story about friendship. The kid in "This is England" is Tomo here, coming to London from Nottingham with nowhere to go. He meets a Polish immigrant in a restaurant and an unlikely friendship begins there.
This is no "This is England" or "Dead Mans shoes" and it's not trying to be. It is less political and less violent, the director decides to look at things from another angle, with his black and white visuals.
Another great movie from Shane Meadows.
