Review of Somers Town (2008) by Timothy F — 08 Feb 2010
Sweet and sour movie about a friendship between two very different teenage characters, the son of a polish immigrant and a youth just released from care. At first sight they don't seem to have very much in common but in fact, they do : their loneliness, their working class status and their crush for the waitress in the local cafe.
The film is short and simple and basically limits itself to tell the story of the little adventures of these two characters in Somers Town. At the same time the director, Meadows, portrays the life of British-working class with a slight sense of humour and in a more positive light that his previous film "This is England".
