Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Nick T — 10 Jan 2019
Solo is a space western with train robberies, salon gambling, shootouts, and even robot rebellions. Solo certainty has all the ingredients needed to give further backstory to how Han became Han Solo.
If it weren't for one fatal flaw, the movie wouldn't have been panned the way it has been. It sets up Emilia Clarke to be a classic femme fatale and then doesn't deliver. It's an age-old dramatic principle in filmmaking called chekhov's gun, "if you show a gun then you better damn well use it." otherwise, a great addition to the Star Wars series.
