Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Brent P — 27 Jan 2019

Huge oldschool star wars fan. Even bigger Han Solo Fan. After disney took the reigns I was excited. They are the masters of childish creativity and happy stories that make you feel full and help you escape from reality. Thats why the first star wars movies captured me.

Disney severely disappointed me by taking a franchise that has a formula for success, and killing off those beloved characters whom are the foundation of the magic behind the spirit of the movies, and replacing them with half rate versions with a depressing and sinister overtone. Needless to say I felt nothing but disappointment after episodes 7, 8, and rogue one. Now han solo is my favorite star wars character of all time along side boba fett and dash rendar. I was so terrified that they were gonna fuck that up too that I diddnt bother going to theatres. I diddnt buy it when it was released, I was over the disney star wars hype train.

Now its on netflix and I had nothing to do one night after work and figured..fuck it might as well see the shitshow. I was quickly surprised. Action the whole way through. Amazing action. I was drawn to the edge of my seat because for once they did it right. This is my new third favorite star wars movie of all time. It bumped out empire for me. (I Hate seeing Han get the short end lol).

This movie is fresh, exciting, took you on a fun joyride through space and had some likeable characters. They did jam a whole lot into one film which had me scratching my head at times where they throw really really far fetched twists and turns with the character relationships and plot progressions and some of it is downright unbelievable ..but it easily overshadowed by the fun and exciting ride it takes you on and finally the good guys get a win again with all this bullshit emo dark overtone crap they are shoveling at us.

I will pay money this time to see a solo sequel. Thank you Ron Howard!
