Review of Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) by Tim W — 24 Nov 2018
The stand alone films are always the best. They have the Lucasfilm money to spend on production without all the tedious back story detail of the series films, with their excrutiating cross referencing and insane requirement for nerdy involvement.
I watched the Last Jedi recently and realised my love affair with Star Wars as an ongoing saga was well and truly over. Rogue was great and this is less successful. But all you need to know is it's in space, there are good guys and bad guys and there is a wookey.
And who doesnt love a wookey? If only Star Wars had stuck with it's central characters- Luke, Chewy, Leia, Darth Vader etc - and avoided introducing all the other nonsense, it would have fared better.
Not enough characters to make a saga, I hear you say? Damn right.
