Review of Solitary Man (2009) by Jerry H — 19 Sep 2010
I was expecting something better than this. This movie is simply an excuse to put Michael Douglas in a movie. Playing a repellent jerk is not that hard. Writing a movie with a plot is. This movie has no plot.
Nothing happens. This guy casually screws around with everything (including his girlfriend's daughter) because women find repelling jerks fascinating. OK. So what? He screws around and...screws around and who cares? That's all the movie is folks.
Oh, yeah, in the last five minutes we find out that he started this when the doctor wanted to do some heart tests. This was supposed to wrap up the story and give us satisfaction. He confesses this to his ex wife who apparently can still speak to him.
