Review of Snow Cake (2006) by Morgaine W — 25 Jul 2007
One of the best films I have seen this year. Alan Rickman (who is great but I have issues with his speech impediment) plays a guilt ravaged traveller who locates the mother of a 19 years old free spirited girl who dramatically dies in a car that he had been driving.
Sigourney Weaver's character is autistic and she plays this fey character very well..a far cry from her big shoulder pad, crutch bashing Working Girl days! The revelation for me was Carrie Ann Moss as a hedonist with a heart.
The great thing about this film is that the characters are wonderfully flawed and very real in a freakish way. The music soundtrack and cinematography are great also.
