I had a real urge to see this again so I ended up paying silly money on Amazon for a copy on DVD. I wasn't disappointed but I now remember it's no where near as good as the book by Peter Hoeg. Julia Ormond is good in the lead role of Smilla Jaspersen investigating the death of her neighbour's son who has fallen from the roof of their building.
Interesting to see cameos by Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi and Tom Wilkinson before their stars were in the ascendency.
