Review of Smiley Face (2007) by Amber W — 29 Feb 2008

After Araki's last film, the amazing and disturbing Mysterious Skin, expectations may have risen too high, to a level this film cannot even approach. Here, Anna Faris plays a ridiculously stupid stoner well.

At times she takes the performance a bit...(read more) overboard (her character can barely walk), but, hey, it's a comedy. The plot veers in different directions as Jane continually "destroys everything she touches" (a perfectly placed Ladytron song).

But, the ending is less than satisfying and the film doesn't really amount to much more than a few laughs.
