Review of Smiley Face (2007) by Jason P — 25 Mar 2009
Who says you can't inject new life into a tired premise? Anna Faris is amazing and hilarious. She does what she does better than anybody else. She was like a traveling monologue- and oh-so-entertaining to watch.
The other characters were just window dressing; this was truly Anna's show. I liked the too-long scenes especially, as they really fit with the "marijuana makes everything out of whack" motif.
Despite a lot of physical comedy, there was quite a bit of subtlety as well. One example is the use of Jayma Mays, a notorious Faris look-alike in the audition scene. Man, I loved this movie!
