Review of Smiles of a Summer Night (1955) by Thomas L — 25 Sep 2008
This was the Netflix flick to come home to in my mailbox on a summer day when I came home early. Before this, the last Bergman movie I'd seen was The Seventh Seal, so I wasn't prepared for the light-heartedness of Summer Night.
I've seen Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical adaptation of it. In fact, it had that gal who played Veronica Mars before she was known as Veronica Mars. And it had Victor Garber too. This is a great, light piece for those who don't mind the occasional Scandinavian comedy.
If you've never seen a Scandinavian comedy in your life, what a great way to start out?
