Review of Sleepers (1996) by Jordan T — 31 Dec 2008
Entertaining all the way through and nicely acted due to its big name cast. This probably didn't need to be as long as it was, but I think Levinson has a problem with editing himself. Although the title is explained I don't think it got justice, it was more or less "Oh by the way, that's why it's called.
.." De Niro as a Catholic priest scares me lol. How would you feel knowing a Father could whack you? I don't understand why Jason Patric was made the important character and narrator of "Shakes".
They focus all the attention on the younger version of him even though Brad Renfro "Michael" is the child star, but then switch in adulthood because Brad Pitt "Older Michael" is the bigger star.
In fact, Patric is really kind of useless in the trial case, he's just a middle man. I was a big fan of Dustin Hoffman's character. The man's such a tremendous actor and can truly do any kind of role, even a druggie inept lawyer.
Good watch and very compelling (albeit disturbing) because it's supposedly a true story.
