Review of Sita Sings the Blues (2008) by Sasha M — 19 Apr 2009

A hyper-entertaining film that sucessfully mixes various forms of media that can be affecting at times. Still, the tale seem much less universal than Paley would like it to be, and sometimes the film feels a little too light and breezy to have any real emotional punch. Still, this is ultimately an intensely personal work, and I feel that Paley has succeeded brilliantly in creating a visual document of that period in her life.

And yes, Paley is right. The rotoscoped scene is outright amazing and stands out in a film full of amazing little bits.
