Review of Sisters (1973) by Tad T — 22 Jun 2007
Early DePalma, when he was still mimicking Hitchcock but doing it well. Unlike Hitchcock, there is a pessimism and despair about the future that suffuses the hallucinatory climactic sequences. Hermann's score has the disorientating effect of making the film seem like it's going to stick to genre conventions when in fact it has no intention of doing so.
