Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by Tom M — 11 Jul 2015
I honestly don't know why this film is so poorly rated. I strongly suspect entitled tool syndrome. AKA Matrix Syndrome.
I thought it was fantastic. It brought 3 more stories that you can believe took place in this mysterious, sordid city. The stories were dark and compelling. With plenty of intrigue to keep me interested for repeated viewings.
I don't know what you people expected from this. Oh yes I do, EXACTLY the same as what you got in the first film. Except that doesn't work. If the story had focussed on characters completely uninvolved in the first film, you would complain. And if they only used characters involved in the first film, you would complain.
And just look at that "consensus" rating up top - "Lacks it's predecessor's brutal impact". OF COURSE it's going to lack the "impact", it's the SECOND film. We'd never seen anything like the first.
If you liked the first one, watch this. It's a gas.
