Review of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (2014) by John M — 31 Oct 2016
The original Sin City have us everything we expected from a screen version of Frank Miller's novel and more. it's extremely good. This doesn't quite do that. Maybe without the novelty of the uber-stylised visuals, we would've found the original less pleasing, but I don't think so.
I just think there's less to care about in this one. None of the characters are likeable enough to invest in, and so you end up with a follow-up that is lacking the impact of its predecessor. It is still worth a look, though.
