Review of Sin City (2005) by Arkham A — 26 Jul 2014
A repetitive, style over substance disaster, containing three "separate" stories which only serve to convey the same basic tale of a man violently trying to protect either one or more prostitutes, further emphasizing Frank Miller's strange obsession with prostitution, as well as Robert Rodriguez's inability to direct a film with more to it than just mindless action and cheese.
The movie also lacks any sense of danger, due to the fact that it's characters only die when required to by the story and are virtually indestructible otherwise, reducing the film's admittedly well shot action to a device that fills up the run time and distracts ADD audience members until the current story ends and the next one begins.
If you just want to see the same pointlessly brutal and revenge fueled action in a cool looking comic book style, with nothing else to it, for two hours then I'd recommend Sin City to you. For those looking for something deeper and less redundant, look elsewhere.
