Review of Sin City (2005) by Jacob B — 11 May 2018
Sin City answers the question: Can one make a live-action comic book movie that feels like a graphic novel without adding scene transitions like that Hulk movie from 2003? Yes. Sin City is a lot of fun.
It's stylish visuals, the film noir narration, the creative action sequences and the gratuitous bloody violence. You really get sucked into this world. Which protagonist did I prefer? Willis, Rourke or Owen? While I rooted for all of them, I feel that Rourke was the best one.
Largely because he's just that badass. Put this guy and Rorschach from Watchmen in the same room and see who'll survive the longest. This is the best crossover between Pulp Fiction and a Frank Miller graphic novel I've ever seen.
