Review of Silent Running (1972) by Ned W — 30 Jan 2010
Bruce Dern is a hippie in space who goes mad when his coworkers try to kill his trees. He then befriends two robots and plays cards with them. Yep. That tired old story again. It's an interesting low-budget early '70s sci-fi flick from effects pioneer Douglas Trumbull.
An enjoyable effort, but far from essential science fiction.
