Review of Silent Running (1972) by Calvin D — 17 Mar 2011
Incredible sci-fi design and visual effects for a pre-Star Wars film. Trumbulls direction is solid, and with the weight of the entire film on his shoulders, Brude Dern does a great job. The script is pretty weak, and seems like too little material, even for 90 minutes.
It is a serious sci-fi classic though, a film that continues to have an undeniable legacy on modern sci-fi ideas.
