Review of Silent Hill (2006) by Steven C — 22 Feb 2012
I give it an 3 star because the movie fell apart in the last half hour. the first two thirds is a decent spook fest that does a decent job and honors the game it's based off of. But... and this is a big butt, the last third shows how similar Directors making video game movies FEEL as if they HAVE to make an amazing work of fictional storytelling into their own vision so they can take credit for it rather than give credence that the story itself is good.
It did it in Resident Evil, it did it in Doom, and it does it here... the one thing the Director's change is the one thing that always ruins the movie and give video game movies the stigma that they're no good.
