Review of Silence (2017) by Jax G — 16 Jan 2017
Wow. It's almost like karma or something, us having such a great time with Scorsese's preceding Wall Street bacchanalia epic. We must atone for that in his punishing but mesmerizing 'Silence.
' Performances from Andrew Garfield (in a role that tops his Desmond Doss and by quite a large margin), Adam Driver and a mostly Japanese cast make this a thoroughly emotional, heavy epic about the duality of man and God.
Whether devout, agnostic or atheist you have to see this movie.
