Review of Anthropoid (2016) by Jax G — 12 Nov 2016
I was really looking forward to this film. I began to get doubts about it with the introduction text. No mention of the Sudatenland and becoming a German protectorate . It was slow and drawn out and we got no insight into the german side whatsoever.
The final half hour turned into " Where eagles dare" with scores of german soldiers being gunned down by the heros. I checked wikipaedia . The official casualty toll was 5 germans wounded. The ones in the film looked like they were trained by Mack Sennet.
The historical accuracy swung wildly. There were 7 agents dropped not 2. 3 went on the mission to Prague. They were betrayed by one of these 3 for the million mark reward. The actual attack was accurate except for the part were Heydrich was aided by a Czech woman and an off duty policeman ( I thought they all hated him) which was left out.
The whole exercise was futile as he was leaving the next day but the exiled gov in Britain wanted to show they were a REAL government. As a result over 5000 innocent civilians were murdered. I am sure the operation would have been called off if it had been their families lives on the line(watch NARCOS).
