Review of Side Effects (2013) by Michelle T — 23 Jul 2013
Still not sure how Steven Soderburgh gets through these projects so quickly, especially since the "retirement" rumor of two years ago. This is a decent thriller, had a couple moments that surprised me, were of good solid interest.
No one can fault Soderburgh's talent, choice in cinematography, and usually not his casting choices either. Channing Tatum? Hmm...not a fan in this. Seems a ploy to get teenage girls to watch something they would usually have no interest in.
Jude Law was great as usual, but Catherine Zeta-Jones surprised me with a rather lackluster performance. It was such a hit and miss movie, that I give it the three stars. Worth a watch however for the content and storyline.
