Review of Sicario (2015) by Bjorn A — 14 Feb 2016
Such high hopes...
The acting was great and the grittiness that reflects the reality of US vs. Mexico's level of law-and-order was on point.
Couldn't get behind the naive idealism of Emily Blunt's character (played her role, well, just didn't like the role). She was behaving like a rookie that's never seen the reality of how shoot/no-shoot decisions are made, but is somehow on a FBI tactical team (normally made of officers/agents with years of proven, in-the-field experience or equally experienced former soldiers. Read: you earn your way in). Related spoiler: breaches a home and she kills the bad guy who shoots at her = no problem, no reaction, all in a day's work . 10 minutes, later (audience time), she sees other tactical teammates in a "Mexican stand-off," where the bad guys ultimately tried to kill her and the rest of her team, in bumper-to-bumper traffic (untold number of potential civilian casualties) = "oh my god!!!! How could you shoot the people who were trying to kill us!!!!".
Yeah... No.
