Review of Sicario (2015) by Jason S — 04 May 2017
Denis Villeneuve offers us a dark and disturbingly beautiful look at at the netherworld of extrajudicial border control and DEA ideology. Cinematographer Roger Deakins captures the immensity of America's drug problem with sweeping, hard-edged, metaphoric perspective.
The closing scene, a young boys football match interrupted only momentarily by gunfire, is as startling as any of the violence that has preceded it.
