Review of Sicario (2015) by Smithy S — 11 Jul 2018
An immensely relevant, commendably intelligent military thriller about the cartels in Mexico and the evil necessary to fight evil. It's not some kick-ass summer action flick, no - it's a grim, respectful, realistic depiction of what's happening at our border and the innocent lives caught in the crossfire on both sides.
Taylor Sheridan establishes himself here as an incredibly brilliant screenwriter, and his talent combined with Dennis Villeneuve's masterful filmmaking makes for one of the best, most mesmerizingly flawless films of the year.
