Review of Short Term 12 (2013) by Ken C — 22 Jan 2014
Short Term 12 was a very unexpectedly powerful film that pulls your emotions in all directions. Your heart seems as if it will just explode because of the sheer emotion and youthful performances these children give displaying heartbreak, neglect, and struggle.
Brie Larson gives a spectacular performance, and this film feels like one of the more underrated films of 2013. There are some little flaws, but they are not extreme and don't really effect the movie experience at all really.
Short Term 12 is a drama that pulls you into a foster home and pulls you into the reality of these unfortunate kids. It has to be one of the most emotionally impacting films I have ever seen, and that something.
I had to literally hold back and breath to prevent tears, and it was really hard to hold back those tears. I have a feeling that I am not going to forget this film in a long time. Short Term 12 is an absolutely beautiful film.
