Review of Shoot 'Em Up (2007) by Tom T — 30 Jan 2011
You pretty much know straight away what kind of film you're in for when Clive Owen kills someone with a carrot. Shoot 'Em Up is a stupid and ridiculous film that is actually quite enjoyable. Clive Owen plays this sharp shooting vigilante known as Mr Smith that hates more or less everything in the world, who attempts to save a pregnant woman from a load of crooks, but unfortunately manages only to save the baby.
He then goes on this farfetched journey to protect the baby from more crooks which have some relation to the higher authorities. You've got to take this film as it is, don't expect to put it on and be watching an Oscar winning blockbuster because you wont be.
Although the film is awesome in places and rather quite funny, the Hollywood cliches and the stupid nature of the film eventually take their toll. Making you quite bored of the repetitive nature and complete ridiculousness of the movie towards the end.
Shoot 'Em Up is a guilty pleasure, which would be enjoyed by the same people that love Crank. But like I said don't expect big things!
