Review of Shogun Assassin (1980) by David F — 06 Nov 2012
I didn't really see the point of this one. Extremely bloody revenge movie about a stranger called Lone Wolf who wanders endlessly with his young son after his wife is murdered by a virulently evil Shogun who continues to dog Lone Wolf throughout his travels.
The swordplay is inventive, gruesome, and comical and the double-chinned Lone Wolf fights off everyone who comes near him with a grim obsessiveness while his young son narrates the story from an understandably jaded childs eye view.
Lots of kung fu action set to a bitter, autumnal tone.
