Review of Shinjuku Incident (2009) by Raji K — 16 May 2014
Jackie Chan stars as a Chinese immigrant who migrates to Japan in hope to find his missing girlfriend. In the process he finds himself working awful jobs and is in the heart of rival Asian gangs and finds that his girlfriend is with one of the leading Yakuza men, Shinjuku Incident does not try and be cheesy and make this into a sappy rescue story, it instead tries to portray how the environment can change a person.
From poor circumstances, one can feel crime is the only answer, and from crime comes power which leads to desire. Shinkuju Incident was easily Jackie Chan's least action based roles, but in return is one of his most emotionally charged films.
