Review of She's Out of My League (2010) by Larry C — 12 Jul 2014
"She's a hard 10. You're a 5, maybe a 6.".
She's Out of Your League is a gut-bustingly hilarious movie with no shortage of laughs which will make you roll-over and cry, thanks to the talented supporting cast which is made up of Krysten Ritter, TJ Miller, Mike Vogel and Nate Miller, who all provide the comedic backbone of the movie.
The movie starts off well enough, with some really memorable comedic set pieces accenting the movie throughout it's first two acts, and a really strong message about identity and self-esteem, which is set-up quite nicely. The movie begins to show the makings of a classic! It's just a shame then that, as the movie goes on, it loses steam, failing too provide new opportunities for conflict or danger, and eventually, just diverging into an outright cliche rom-com with an ending that wraps up the character arcs way too nicely (and conveniently) and even worse: it's been done a MILLION times.
All-in-all, a GOOD movie with some GREAT laughs in-between which could've been an instant CLASSIC, had it not botched the last act.
