Fantastic performances from alan ladd and jack palance. the charcter of shane is one of the best in any western, up there with clint eastwoods man with no name. the story is simple, but beautifully told and the character development is what drives the plot.
this has what is surely one of the saddest endings of any movie.*sob* 'come back Shane!'.
