Review of Shane (1953) by Shane S — 27 Nov 2010
You might not appreciate this as much as your typical adult Western, but it is very innovative and gave birth to a lot of the rapidfire cutting of Sergio Leone and the grittiness of Westerns to come.
The morally ambiguous hero? Check.
Minute detail? Check.
A memorable score? Check.
An oft-quoted line? Check and double check.
It's a little too perfect - the family isn't as realistic - but hey. It's good practice for what was to come.
