Review of Shampoo (1975) by Matthew B — 03 Dec 2007
With the film's killer premise; Hairdresser courts a businessman in order for him to invest in his salon, meanwhile sleeping with the man's wife, girlfriend and daughter this could have been just a bawdy and farcical comedy.
Instead, in the hands of Beatty, Ashby and Towne an intelligent, social and politically charged and still funny film has been made. The cast are great, particularly Beatty (the scenes where he is put on the spot are brilliant) and Jack Warden, who is never anything short of hillarious.
