Review of Shame (2011) by Ross E — 04 Aug 2012
Comes off like a less caricatured sequel to American Psycho, here it's a spiritually bankrupt sex addict instead of a murderer, the acting is brilliant, Fassbender and Mulligan, the story leaves something to be desired, but it's the direction - pacing, cinematography, emotional tone, and use of sound that make this movie mesmerizing, it's great to watch a movie from a director that has a comprehensive vision, even when it's flawed it's better than an aimless film;.
Up there with Young Adult and Take Shelter as simple and great modern stories on film.
