Something of both glamor and guts, Shame is horrifying for its startling performances, crafted with such precision by Fassbender he practically breathes the role. Mulligan demonstrates she's not a third rate name, too, accompanied by a marvelous script that is guaranteed to bring out the minds of surprise and terror, all in an elegant, subtle fashion.
