Review of Shame (2011) by James W — 31 Oct 2013
Provocative, intimate and shockingly explicit, but within that shock lies the nature of the character that this intense story focuses on. Michael Fassbender gives an unforgettable performance as Brandon, a single man with an active lifestyle struggling with sex addiction.
This is a very ballsy and open movie that hides behind nothing and literally bares everything. It's an admirable movie and not only is it captivating it's technically brilliant, from the fantastic lighting effects to the slow panning camerawork.
Shame is a feature not to be missed, and it also features a tour-de force performance from the unbelievably talented Carey Mulligan who plays Sissy, Brandon's extremely over-bearing and needy sister who comes crashing down on her Brother's lifestyle.
