Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Cecilia C — 15 Mar 2009
Joseph Cotten is so creepy in this movie. He is such a great contrast to girl-next-door Teresa Wright. The scene where she suspects he is the Merry Widow Killer at the dinner table and he goes on about the useless, fat women living off of their dead husband's money is bone chilling.
I love Teresa Wright's character of Charlie, she's almost Nancy Drew-ish in her smarts as she investigates her shady uncle while not alarming the entire family. You can also see the Hitchcock style fall at the end for Uncle Charlie, which looks alot like the fall down the stairs for the investigator in Psycho.
I don't hear as much about Shadow of a Doubt as other Hitchcock movies, but I find this to be one of the best.
