Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Kyle G — 29 May 2014
I'd call this Hitchcock's finest. Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotten were perfect for the roles, as respectively a totally innocent young woman and a psychopath masquerading as a normal and charming uncle. I also was very entertained by the discourse between Herb and the father about achieving the perfect murder. They added ironic comedy to the tense nature of the tale.
I am not usually a fan of these "small-town dramas" but A.H. captures the atmospheric and dramatic aspects flawlessly, and the result is a perfect movie.
