Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Mark L — 21 Apr 2012
I always find Alfred Hitchcock`s films flat and slow paced and can just be described in few words but he is really super in creating all these amazing details of each character ..the way they eat , speak , dress and walk in addition to marvelous script and great acting ...
The film is about "Charlie" the young girl and her fascination with her uncle "Charlie" who planned to visit their house in this small calm town ...she sees her uncle as her soul mate , her other half , she`s even been named after him ..she thought she knew him , she thought the world outside her town is no different but her uncle decided to tell her the truth.
"You think you know something, don't you? You think you're the clever little girl who knows something. There's so much you don't know, so much. What do you know, really? You're just an ordinary little girl, living in an ordinary little town. You wake up every morning of your life and you know perfectly well that there's nothing in the world to trouble you. You go through your ordinary little day, and at night you sleep your untroubled ordinary little sleep, filled with peaceful stupid dreams. And I brought you night mares".
