Review of Shadow of a Doubt (1943) by Stephen E — 26 Oct 2012
"Shadow of a Doubt" is a dark, eerie, ambiguous film that stands as the first to show some of Hitchcock's legendary directorial trademarks. Teresa Wright does an outstanding job as the lead; so well, in fact, that she often overpowers Joseph Cotten, who plays the part of a villain to a tee.
In the long run, the whole affair may be just a bit predictable and the ending is too neatly wrapped up, but that doesn't make "Shadow of a Doubt" any less of the classic that it is.
